The Technology Resources for
Education (TRE) Center, a co-sponsored project of the New York State
Education Department, Office of Vocational Educational Services for Individuals with
Disabilities (VESID) and the Albany-Schoharie-Schenectady-Saratoga BOCES. |

The TRE Center
continues to develop "Guidelines for Assistive Technology for Service Providers in
New York State." These guidelines will help districts provide students with
disabilities with access to learning technologies and ensure compliance with Federal
mandates for Assistive Technology. |

The TRE Center
provides a wide variety of services. Among them are individual student
technology consultations; a Internet Web Page; Newsletter;
reference and software libraries, a Regional Assistive Technology Device Loan and Training
service, and turnkey training for the state guidelines. |

The TRE Center also
coordinates the VESID initiative regarding Distance Learning for Assistive Technology in
collaboration with the National Association of State Directors of Special Education. |
